In this role, you will
- Focus on IT risk and controls across critical financial systems, partner with IT, Engineering, and Security teams to support effective control design, system readiness, and advising on key technology change initiatives
- Advise IT and engineering teams on SOX requirements related to access, change management, job management, third-party service organization and system development life cycle (SDLC) controls.
- Assess the SOX effectiveness of internally built systems, enhancements, and automation initiatives.
- Provide guidance on IT general, interface and automated control design in alignment with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework and auditing standards.
- Partner with technology and engineering stakeholders to identify scalable control automation opportunities.
- Lead IT control testing readiness and remediation oversight.
- Deliver SOX IT training and enablement tailored for technical & engineering control owners.
- Lead and manage IT SOX compliance activities, including annual planning, system scoping, performing IT walk-throughs, documenting, and analyzing procedures and controls, in accordance with PCAOB and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Evaluate key risks in financial processes and propose changes in control design to address risks. Review control evidence for adherence to accuracy, completeness, and precision of control execution for all IT General Controls.
- Advise IT & Engineering regarding Segregation of Duties rules and mitigating controls
- Develop effective working relationships with various finance, engineering and IT stakeholders
- Work independently with external auditors to review testing results and to facilitate the external auditor’s own assessment of internal controls over financial reporting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Security or related field
- At least 5 years of working experience in SOX compliance and internal audit including IT audit, information security process controls integration, and system implementation
- Comprehensive understanding, expertise and experience in PCAOB standards, SOX regulations (SOX 404) and COSO framework
- Strong background in access management, change management, computer operations auditing techniques and/or computer control environments
- SOX experience identifying controls, developing and executing test plans for IT Application Controls, IT General Controls and key reports/IPE
- Familiarity with source code management systems (e.g. Github), internally built tools and continuous integration processes
- Ability to lead complex projects which require influence and implementation across business groups and functions; excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate and translate technical concepts into risk language for business and audit stakeholders
- Attention to detail, organized, and thorough with desire for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities; Strong day-to-day project management skillsAbility to meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment; demonstrates sense of urgency and results driven
Desirable Qualifications
- A mix of IT auditing experience at big four and industry experience in technology and engineering field
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing internal audit projects, including implementing and managing data analytics programs, automation programs
- Knowledge and experience in SOC1/2 audits and documentation required to support compliance
- System related certifications such as CISA, CISSP
The base salary range for this position is $143,000 - $229,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
