The Lidar Integration and Test team, responsible for all systems engineering, systems integration and test activities for FirstLight lidar products, is searching for a Senior Staff Lidar Systems Engineer.
In this role you will
- Lead dFMEA development/updates through product life cycle
- Support requirement generation from top level down to the subsystem level
- Lead/Support Functional Safety Concept generation and Functional Safety requirement generation
- Support the design and development of in-process and EoL HW test stations for deployment in Lidar MFG environment(s)
- Algorithm development for system integration and optimization activities
- Support system and subsystem optimization (both HW and SW) through the HW development cycle progression (A-sample, B-sample, C-sample, SOP)
- Work with the lidar embedded SW team to develop and validate functional safety concepts and design/perform fault injection testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software development teams to ensure products meet requirements
- Proactively identify potential technical bottlenecks or failures early in the development lifecycle and implement mitigation strategies
- Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues during all phases of the product life cycle
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Analyze test results, identify issues, and work with the cross-functional development teams to resolve them
- Create test reports and manage root cause/corrective action for test failures with the design team
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Physics or a related field.
- Experience in hardware testing, including experience with photonics, embedded systems, digital and analog circuitry, and firmware.
- Experience with modeling tools (e.g. Python, MATLAB, SysML) and CAD tools
- Familiarity with standard test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, thermal chambers and vibe tables.
- Experience with volume manufacturing
- Hands-on experience working with and debugging complex hardware and software systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The base salary range for this position is $178,000 - $257,000 per year Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
