OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Binti seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Finance and Accounting Associate to join our finance team. This position is ideal for a recent graduate with early career experience in finance or accounting, who is eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced, innovative environment. The Finance and Accounting Associate will assist with managing the company's accounts receivable portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. They will also contribute to establishing new and improved processes around Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities such as budgeting and forecasting.
LOCATION
This role is based in Oakland, California (modest relocation budget available for qualified candidates based outside the San Francisco Bay Area and willing to move in order to be local to Binti headquarters). Binti enjoys a hybrid work environment, with some colleagues entirely remote. This Associate role is expected to work from our Oakland office at least 2-3 days per week in order to complete certain in-office responsibilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Invoice Processing: Generate and send out invoices to customers in a timely and accurate manner.
Payment Management: Record and apply incoming payments from customers, including checks, electronic transfers, and credit card transactions.
Account Reconciliation: Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.
Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts.
Employee Expense Processing: Reviewing and processing employee submissions for expense reimbursement related to home office stipends, work-related travel, etc.
Data Entry: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the accounting system.
Compliance: Ensure all accounts receivable activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable status, aging, and collections activities. Also, support the Head of Finance in preparing cash flow projections and various financial health scenarios
Local Office Operations Support: act as the primary contact for visitors and activities in Binti’s Oakland office. This includes liaising with WeWork management, supporting employees working in the office with logistics, receiving and processing incoming mail, trips to the local bank or post office as needed.
SAMPLE PROJECTS (add any upcoming projects that this role would have)
Execute Accounts Receivable tracking and follow-up on outstanding invoices
Add rigor to invoicing practices through documentation of unique customer requirements
Formalize contract renewal tracking to improve stakeholder visibility and financial accuracy
Assist in transitioning to new expense management to enhance budgeting practices
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT YOU
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, but not required - equivalent work experience is equally desirable.
Experience: Previous work or internship experience in accounting or finance is expected; experience engaging directly with commercial customers on aged receivables is a plus.

Proficient in financial modeling and analysis
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Expertise in Excel or Google Sheets (formulas, macros, etc); SQL or similar database query skills a plus
Familiarity with accounting principles and softwares (e.g., QuickBooks, Maxio, Bill.com, and Expensify) is a plus.
