Binti builds software for state and county government agencies, focusing on reinventing social services. We started in child welfare, with the mission of helping every child have a safe, loving, and stable family. To date, we’ve helped approve more than 100,000 families to foster or adopt, and we support over 46% of the nation’s child welfare system. We have expanded our product offerings in child welfare, moving more to the root of the problem, helping families stay together and avoid separation, and are now expanding horizontally across other areas in social services.
Binti is a for-profit, mission-driven software company based in San Francisco, CA. Investors include Founders Fund, First Round Capital, Kapor Capital, and others. We’re a team of ~90 people and growing quickly. We care about creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and can bring their full self to work. We have a huge, ambitious vision to rewire government to be more effective in expanding opportunities for people around the world, and we are looking for mission-driven, high-empathy, high-performance, and low-ego team members to join us on our exciting journey towards that vision.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
We’re seeking technically sharp, customer-focused engineers who are eager to collaborate closely with our partners to design and deliver integrations that maximize the full value of the Binti platform. As an Integrations Software Engineer and part of the Integrations Engineering team, you’ll take ownership of high-impact, externally-facing technical projects — from discovery and architecture sessions to launch. Strong candidates combine deep engineering experience with excellent communication skills, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to thrive in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
LOCATION
Binti is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and this role would be expected to be in-person (in-person office days are Mondays and Thursdays across the company). Much of our team is local to the San Francisco Bay Area and works in a hybrid setup – spending some days in the office and others working remotely.
A part of this position involves supporting our customers on their integration journey, and therefore, this job includes occasional travel to customer locations (approximately once a month). Opportunities to go on-site with our customers will include design and discovery sessions, co-development work, and technical onboarding.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead architecture discussions during integration development to ensure that they are built in a sound, reliable, and performant way
Optimize and improve the tools that our Binti’s internal delivery teams and our customers use to do their day-to-day work
Full Stack coding, 80% back end and 20% front end
Mentor other engineers on best practices for software engineering
Optimize the performance of integration pipelines, APIs, and components for both latency and throughput
Participate in discovery and architecture sessions with customers to ensure that integrations are designed to support our customers needs, best leverage the Binti platform, and be performant, secure, and scalable.
Build integration pipelines and APIs that are stable, performant, and scalable, and monitor them to ensure that they are operating properly
Work directly with our customers’ development teams, in person or virtually, to provide them live support and consulting as they integrate with the Binti platform and APIs.
Provide integration support to our customers, answering questions, offering consultative advice, and assisting them in debugging their integrations.
Synthesize and deliver product feedback to enable us to use it to improve Binti’s modules and integration capabilities.
Collaborate with Product Management to scope and execute product features while maintaining Binti’s values.
Focus on the longevity of the codebase - notice and advocate for patterns that allow code to be flexible, scalable, and approachable to other engineers
Help our team move quickly and learn while maintaining a welcoming and supportive culture
Push our product so it continues to be a beautiful, yet intuitive and accessible interface for users from all walks of life
Champion security and privacy, including looking for ways to make it easier to safeguard HIPAA compliance for sensitive data and incorporate security best practices.
SAMPLE PROJECTS
Join other members of the Binti team in meetings with a new customer to understand how Binti will fit into their workflow and information architecture, and then use that knowledge to design an integration using Binti’s APIs or connectors that meets their needs.
Collaborate side-by-side, virtually or in-person, with a customer who is integrating with Binti, providing them live support during co-development.
Develop new API endpoints, connectors, or other integration tools to improve and extend our integration capabilities
Respond to questions and support requests from customers with existing integrations to debug, triage, and fix issues that are discovered post-launch.
WHO YOU ARE

You have the ability to architect, build, and maintain distributed integrated systems.
You’re comfortable with APIs, data pipelines (ETL), enterprise data warehouses (EDW), and all their friends.

You have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
