Black Forest Labs is a cutting-edge startup pioneering generative image and video models. Our team, which invented Stable Diffusion, Stable Video Diffusion, and FLUX.1, is currently looking for a ML Engineer to join us and focus on moderation.

As our ML Engineer for moderation you will be spearheading our efforts to ensure our models are best-in-class for being robust and free from the possibility of generating potentially dangerous, harmful or inappropriate (NSFW) content.

The Role:

• Design and implement real-time inference services and batch filters to automatically flag, block or triage user-generated content
• Train, fine-tune and deploy state-of-the-art text and vision moderation models in production pipelines
• Partner directly with enterprise clients to translate their content‐policy requirements into technical specifications and custom moderation rules
• Collaborate with data-science and annotation teams to build, maintain and continuously improve high-quality datasets
• Build monitoring, alerting and reporting dashboards to measure model performance (precision/recall, latency, drift) and operational health of implemented moderation measures
• Research, prototype and integrate emerging techniques to develop novel moderation tools

Ideal Experience:

• ML/AI experience, with a strong track record deploying deep‐learning models in production (text & computer-vision)
• Hands-on expertise in PyTorch, MLOps tools, containerization (Docker/K8s) and REST serving
• Familiarity with diffusion or flow-matching model families along with their moderation challenges
• Strong software engineering skills: clean code, testing, CI/CD, scalable services
• Excellent communicator—comfortable scoping requirements with non-technical stakeholders and translating them into technical deliverables
• Experience working with large-scale datasets, active-learning frameworks and annotation tooling
• Passion for working in a small, cross-functional team: willing to wear multiple hats, iterate quickly and help out in adjacent areas

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and serverless architectures
• Experience working in proven content moderation organisations
• Published work or open-source contributions in generative modelling or content moderation
• Familiarity with visual generative AI community spaces and content
