The Research Associate is a unique position that bridges the gap between biology and software, providing critical insights into the performance and functionality of our instrument. The RA will utilize their cell biology experience to run controlled experiments with a focus on verifying and validating software performance. This role reports into the Associate Director of Software QA.

Essential Duties include:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments in molecular and cell biology to validate software functionality.
  • Work closely with the software team to define test cases and identify performance metrics.
  • Troubleshoot and document software and hardware issues encountered during experiments.
  • Analyze data generated by experiments, providing feedback to the software team for further development.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols, results, and any anomalies encountered.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and quality assurance specialists
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ability to comply with personal protective equipment requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in cell biology, molecular biology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment and hands-on experience with cell culture techniques and assays.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow experimental protocols precisely.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software testing, instrumentation, or quality control.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with GitHub.
  • Ability to write test scripts in Python to test software or analyze results.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
