Comity is a Series A startup operating at the intersection of clean energy and finance, backed by world-class investors including Maverick Ventures, Caffeinated Capital, and SV Angel.
We are an active participant in the U.S. power markets with profitable trading strategies, and we are now channeling that momentum into the next phase of the company: building a financial product designed to eliminate credit friction and unlock faster, more efficient capital deployment across the clean energy ecosystem.
Our founders are Stanford alumni who have scaled multi-billion-dollar companies and bring deep experience in complex systems, machine learning, and structured finance:
Gerad, our CEO, is a founding team member at Bluevine where he blueprinted and brought to market new business lines and then led their operations to $8.6B of originations.
Alex, our CTO, was the sixth software engineer at Affirm where he architected its machine learning platforms and the originator’s system of record that handled $15.5B of originations.
The Role
Comity is looking for a Head of Origination to scale and execute our deal pipeline across the clean energy ecosystem. This is a highly strategic role for a commercially-minded operator who thrives on sourcing, structuring, and closing the best deals, understands what makes our product win, and can build the organizational muscle to make that success repeatable.
You’ll shape and own our origination roadmap end to end —from developing distribution strategy and channel partnerships, to structuring and executing transactions. You’ll engage deeply with renewable energy stakeholders to understand their decision drivers and constraints, translating those insights into effective market strategies and executable deals. You’ll lay the commercial foundation for scale: building systems, playbooks, and teams to help us grow with quality and speed.
In this role, you will:
Strategize: architect a scalable go-to-market and distribution strategy informed by product unit economics, competitive landscape, customer archetypes, and the scalability and profitability of each pathway
Develop business: identify and cultivate relationships with renewable energy stakeholders and distribution partners
Structure and execute: lead transaction structuring and execution by partnering closely with our underwriting team; manage distribution to ensure alignment with profit and capital strategy
Synthesize: bring customer and market feedback into the organization to inform product evolution and capital design
Scale: develop commercial operations and scalable processes to support repeatable, high-quality transactions
As an early business leader, you’ll be instrumental in shaping how Comity grows and how we connect our innovative product with the clean energy market.
We’re excited about you because
You bring 12+ years of experience in renewable energy finance —with a background in project finance and/or investment banking at a leading financial institution— and a proven track record of originating, structuring, and executing transactions across the power markets.
Deep commercial intuition: You understand the transaction flow of renewable energy projects and have a strong sense of what makes a deal viable across stakeholders.
Strategic operator: You can zoom out to design go-to-market and distribution strategy and zoom in to execute transactions and manage origination efforts on the ground.
Entrepreneurial mindset: You're comfortable navigating uncharted territory and designing playbooks where none exist.
Well-networked: You have strong existing relationships with renewable energy sellers, developers, brokers, and/or other stakeholders in the ecosystem.
Fluent in finance and credit: You have a strong grasp of credit fundamentals and financial drivers of profitability, and you embed that understanding into go-to-market strategy, distribution decisions, and transaction execution.
Extroverted and articulate: You're confident representing the company externally and translating client needs into internal strategy.
Team builder: You have experience scaling origination functions and developing junior talent.
Execution-minded: You’re energized by moving fast and iterating —and can do so without compromising deal quality.
