About Corgi

Corgi is building the next generation of financial institutions. We’re rethinking how insurance, financial products, and other complex financial services are built and operated from the ground up.

We move quickly, work across disciplines, and expect people to take meaningful ownership from day one. Our teams are small, ambitious, and highly execution-oriented.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Accounting Lead to build and own the accounting function for a new Corgi product line.

This is a foundational role. You’ll be responsible for establishing the accounting infrastructure, processes, and controls for the business and owning the accuracy and integrity of its financial records as the product line launches and scales.

You’ll work closely with the product line’s leadership and Corgi’s finance organization, while having significant ownership over the accounting function itself. You’ll help determine how the business is structured from an accounting perspective, build the processes required to support it, and ensure the financials accurately reflect what is happening in the business.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build an accounting function rather than simply step into an established one.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the accounting function for the new product line.
  • Build and maintain the accounting infrastructure, processes, and controls from the ground up.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Oversee the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures as the business develops.
  • Partner closely with leadership to understand new products, transactions, revenue streams, and other business activity and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Monitor financial activity and identify discrepancies, errors, and opportunities to improve processes.
  • Build scalable processes for a growing and increasingly complex business.
  • Work closely with Corgi’s broader finance, tax, legal, and operational teams.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.
  • Help establish appropriate financial controls and reporting infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and other partners as needed.
  • Help hire and build out the accounting function as the product line grows.
  • Take ownership of accounting-related projects and special initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • CPA required.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Experience owning or playing a significant role in the month-end close process.
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand complex business activity and translate it into appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of a function.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where processes and systems are still being built.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to get into the details and figure things out.

Why Corgi

This is an opportunity to build and own the accounting function for a new product line from the ground up.

You’ll work closely with the team building the business and have significant influence over the financial infrastructure that supports it. As the product line grows, you’ll have the opportunity to expand the team and build the accounting organization alongside the business.
