Docker is a remote first company with employees across Europe, APAC and the Americas that simplifies the lives of developers who are making world-changing apps. We raised our Series C funding in March 2022 for $105M at a $2.1B valuation. We continued to see exponential revenue growth last year. Join us for a whale of a ride!

Docker is looking for a Product line leader for our Share Product Line, where we develop and ship Docker Official Images, publisher tools, and Docker Hub. With millions of active developers globally, 26 million monthly active IPs, 25 billion pulls per month and 17 million repos and growing, this is a chance to take the industry’s leading marketplace for modern apps and extend this lead to the stratosphere! Docker Hub and our content help developers to bring their ideas to life by delivering a magical experience simplifying and accelerating the complexities of building and shipping applications. This leader is responsible for managing the entire product lifecycle to define, prioritize and bring to market winning products that delight developers and dev teams.

If you love 1 to 10 scaling projects and dynamic environments with lots of opportunities to shape processes and standardize, we want to talk with you. You can help write the next gen case study on world class PLG. This is a unique opportunity to engage with a vibrant community of millions of developers in a way that simplifies cloud-native application development.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, develop, and retain the best product team of your entire career

  • Deliver results for our customer and our business working across teams to achieve strong product market fit across a variety of segments

  • Facilitate alignment on a compelling product vision and strategy with customers and ecosystem partners

  • Set priorities and shape focus for the team to the benefit of our customer and our financial results

  • Drive team metrics that drive real progress well ahead of “grow ARR”

  • Foster rapid learning cycles on the team by driving product management best practices

  • Help products have a healthy ecosystem in which to thrive (developers, partners, customers, and online communities)

  • Bonus: serve as product spokesperson with customers, partners, press, analysts, and events

Ideal candidate:

  • You should have experience with Docker’s tools and know what CLI, API, SDLC all mean and you should have opinions on day 1 about standards of what good looks like for all of these

  • Evidence of many years of hands on product management across multiple product stages

  • Foster a mindset of 10x rather than 10% thinking

  • Enjoy engagement with customers and users and iterating on ways to validate we are building what they need (not just what they say) before engineering work is complete

  • Operate from a presence over pretense mindset - humble confidence is a Docker virtue and you know from your experiences that influence matters more than authority

  • Comfortable in a remote 1st company across ~8 timezones - this means you are great at writing and other methods of reinforcing information sharing without literally being “at the front of the room”

  • Possess a growth mindset and demonstrate where you have learned new customers, markets and business models quickly - you have experience in dev tools, SaaS, cloud service, registries, and/or open source freemium models

  • Love for and success in a fast-growth scale up environment characterized by controlled chaos (sometimes described as: lack of resources, imperfect information, quickly-changing user markets and competitive landscape, and limited structure and guidance)

  • Experience engaging with and enabling large developer communities

  • Bonus only: prior experience as a software engineer

In the first week, expect to:

  • Observe - get to know our: customers, product, team, and ways of working (we use OKRs)

  • Tell us where we got the expectations wrong below as you work to build a world class team and business

In the first month, expect to:

  • Continue learning (we love a growth mindset here and believe in progress over perfection)

  • Orient to the team’s talents, current product direction, and the resulting metrics

  • Compile early observations about where we should investigate making adjustments to maximize return on invested engineering effort

In the first three months, expect to:

  • Set goals (OKRs) with the team

  • Hiring a world class talent and making any needed adjustments to our hiring process in a collaborative way

  • Adjusting goals and roadmaps to help provide a better return on invested engineering effort

In the first year, expect to:

  • Have made system wide impact on Docker’s product while changing the lives of millions of developers

Perks:

  • Freedom & flexibility; fit your work around your life

  • Home office setup; we want you comfortable while you work

  • 16 weeks of paid Parental leave

  • Technology stipend equivalent to $100 net/month

  • PTO plan that encourages you to take time to do the things you enjoy

  • Quarterly, company-wide hackathons

  • Training stipend for conferences, courses and classes

  • Equity; we are a growing start-up and want all employees to have a share in the success of the company

  • Docker Swag

  • Medical benefits, retirement and holidays vary by country
