About the role

We are looking for a talented Designer Engineer to define how designers and engineers collaborate to deliver exceptional user experiences at speed. As a hybrid role between frontend engineering and product design, you will be a bridge between design and engineering, ensuring the seamless implementation of high-quality, user-centered interfaces.

You’ll work closely with our small but mighty team of 7 engineers and 1 product designer to evolve and maintain our design system, build reusable components, and create tooling that empowers the team to ship quickly and consistently. This is an individual contributor role where your work will have a direct and meaningful impact on our product, our brand, and our customers’ lives.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain our cross-platform design system, including both design assets and front-end libraries, to ensure consistency and scalability.

  • Contribute to the design and development of our core fintech product by crafting reusable, accessible, and elegant components with clean, semantic code.

  • Collaborate with the product designer to refine user interfaces and interactions, ensuring we deliver exceptional user experiences.

  • Advocate for accessibility and best practices in user experience across all our products.

  • Create and maintain internal tooling and documentation to streamline the design-to-code workflow and improve team efficiency.

  • Work directly with engineers to implement design system components and evolve our approach to front-end architecture.

  • Participate in and contribute to team rituals such as design reviews, sprint planning, and weekly stand-ups.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and iterate rapidly to solve user and team pain points. Help define and shape the long-term product vision, bringing a unique perspective that balances design and engineering.

Who you are

  • 2+ years of experience in tech/startups, or equivalent roles.

  • Expertise in modern Product Design software (preferably Figma).

  • Strong skills in semantic HTML, CSS (including latest features like CSS grid), and JavaScript (preferably with React).

  • A deep understanding of visual design principles and UX/UI best practices, with the ability to sweat the small design details in both mockups and code.

  • Proven experience maintaining and scaling a reusable component library or design system.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge gaps between design and engineering.

  • A strong sense of organization, documentation, and attention to detail.

  • Passion for accessibility and inclusive design practices.

Extra awesome

  • Experience working in a fintech or B2B SaaS environment.

  • Familiarity with design tokens and managing cross-platform design libraries.

  • Ability to articulate complex technical and design concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and building internal tools to improve design and engineering workflows.
