Nexus Labs
At Nexus Labs, we are on a mission to make blockchains maximally useful. To do so, we are building Nexus, the first general-purpose zero-knowledge cloud computing network, designed to scale Ethereum applications with stateless verifiable off-chain compute.
Nexus originated at Stanford University, and is backed by a suite of world-class investors including Dragonfly, Alliance, SV Angel and others. We believe in Ethereum’s values and cherish freedom, ownership, and meritocracy.
We are looking for great scientists and engineers excited about the future of verifiable computing and the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Role
We are looking for a full-time Senior Research Scientist / Senior Cryptographer to join our team and help us build the core cryptographic components of Nexus, all in Rust.
You will work on the design and implementation of the Nexus zkVM and the Nexus Network, working at the bleeding edge of cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs, and distributed systems.
As a founding scientist, you will engage in protocol design, and will have a foundational impact over the development and direction of the protocol.
Responsibilities
Help design and build the Nexus Network and the Nexus zkVM.
Contribute high-quality, well-tested and well-documented code.
Requirements
A PhD in mathematics, cryptography or theoretical computer science.
Research / publication record in general cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs, MPC, threshold signatures, or other advanced theoretical computer science topics.
OR - Research / publication record in distributed systems, randomness beacons, VRFs, large-scale consensus, consensus on a DAG, blockchain scaling, etc.
You are passionate about decentralized computing, including blockchain scaling, cross-chain communication, modular blockchain architectures, decentralized oracle networks, optimistic rollups and zk-rollups.
You are a self-starter and take high ownership and responsibility of your own work.
Bonus Points
You love working in Rust.
You are familiar with the technical architectures of the following great projects and can discuss them at length: Ethereum, Cosmos, StarkNet, Filecoin, Nomad, Axelar, Chainlink, Celestia, IPFS, Arbitrum, Optimism, Near, Polkadot.
