About Us:

At Parafin, we’re on a mission to grow small businesses.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but traditional banks often don’t have their backs. We build tech that makes it simple for small businesses to access the financial tools they need through the platforms they already sell on.

We partner with companies like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to offer fast and flexible funding, spend management, and savings tools to their small business users via a simple integration. Parafin takes on all the complexity of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service for our partners.

We’re a tight-knit team of innovators hailing from Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, CERN, and more — all united by a passion for building tools that help small businesses succeed. Parafin is backed by prominent venture capitalists including GIC, Notable Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Ribbit Capital, and Thrive Capital. Parafin is a Series C company, and we have raised more than $194M in equity and $340M in debt facilities.

Join us in creating a future where every small business has the financial tools they need.

About the Position

We're looking for an experienced full stack engineer to join our Product Engineering team in San Francisco. Our team owns the end-to-end experience across Parafin's financial products, from the UI layer down to the APIs and services that power it. You'll play a central role in shaping what we build and how it’s built, working across Design, Product, Engineering, and Data Science.

As a Staff Product Engineer, you'll own complex features across the stack, drive architecture decisions, and lead cross-functional initiatives. You'll set technical direction for the Product Engineering team, make decisions that impact the broader product surface, and raise the bar for engineering quality through mentorship and by improving how the team ships.

What You’ll Do

  • Ship polished user experiences and own the APIs, data models, and backend services behind them. Set a high bar for quality across performance, reliability, and user experience.

  • Develop deep product expertise and use it to shape what we build. Partner closely with Product and Design to own roadmap decisions and shape product direction.

  • Drive architecture decisions and lead technical reviews. Set technical direction for the team, shape broader engineering culture and practices, and align stakeholders across Engineering and Data Science on priorities and tradeoffs.

  • Mentor engineers, improve team processes and code quality, and foster a culture of craft, ownership, and high standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience building and shipping user-facing products as a full stack engineer, with a track record of owning large, ambiguous problem spaces and driving them from concept to production.

  • Able to go deep across the stack to solve complex problems and unblock the team. You’ve built production-quality UIs in React and TypeScript and have experience designing APIs, working with data models, and debugging complex backend systems.

  • You care deeply about user experience and can reason about what makes one UX better than another. You think through edge cases when data is missing or when users do something unexpected.

  • You are opinionated about how software should be built and establish abstractions, architecture, and patterns that make the broader product surface easier to develop and maintain.

  • You lead through influence. You’ve driven cross-functional initiatives, aligned Engineering, Product, and Design around tradeoffs, and raised the bar for engineering quality through technical leadership, mentorship, and example.

What We Offer:

  • Salary Range: $265k - $330k

  • Equity grant

  • Medical, dental & vision insurance

  • Work from home flexibility

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Commuter benefits

  • Free lunches

  • Paid parental leave

  • 401(k)

  • Employee assistance program
