The expected working hours for this position are from 12:00 AM to 9:00 AM, based on the Philippine Time Zone (PHT).

About the role

As Underwriting Manager, you will own all aspects of Underwriting operations for active investments with the goal of maximizing performance and outcomes, and ensure company revenue goals are well supported. The Underwriting Manager is responsible for assessing credit risk and compliance for Home Equity Investment (HEI) transactions.

The Underwriting Manager is responsible and accountable for all aspects of team oversight, including the successful delivery of all underwriting functions on a daily basis, as well as team and people development. The Manager, Underwriting will partner cross-functionally and with colleagues within the larger Operations and Servicing teams, to build a scalable and technology-enabled operational model and a world-class investor experience.

Your responsibilities

Team Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Underwriters responsible for assessing credit risk and compliance.
  • Monitor individual and team performance against established SLAs, standard throughput, and quality, ensuring accountability for pipeline management and customer responsiveness.
  • Create a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operational Execution

  • Oversee day-to-day underwriting operations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Account Management, Processing, Valuations, Closing, and Servicing to ensure seamless file handoffs and resolution of escalations.
  • Review and refine team procedures, controls, and reporting to ensure risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Manage pipeline health and proactively identify and address bottlenecks.

Process & Technology Enablement

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to operationalize workflows and implement automation that increases team efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify and address process inefficiencies, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Establish and document best practices for underwriting work and closing preparation.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex inquiries and issues.
  • Partner with internal leadership to support company revenue and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Champion the customer homeownership journey by ensuring processes and communications are designed with the homeowner’s perspective in mind.
  • Work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to operationalize and automate Underwriting workflows.
  • Create and continually foster a culture of excellence, innovation, communication and accountability, where all members of the team are motivated and inspired to continually raise the bar and to challenge the status quo in evolving processes and technology.

About you

  • 1–3 years of experience managing an underwriting operations team is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in underwriting work, or equivalent background in real estate/HEI operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage/HEI regulatory requirements (e.g., TILA, RESPA, ECOA, SAFE Act).
  • Familiarity with investor guidelines and risk management principles.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with sound credit judgment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit, income, and collateral analysis for home equity products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams while balancing performance management and people development.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage large pipelines in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with customers and cross-functional partners.
  • Proficiency with G-Suite/Microsoft Office; experience in paperless workflows.
  • Experience working with Product/Engineering teams to design or enhance operational processes preferred.
  • High level of adaptability, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
