Role Description

Your North Star: As a Compliance Associate, you will support our compliance program through creating and managing audit and risk mitigation plans, and developing and implementing key policies and procedures.

The Compliance Associate will support the compliance program and manage projects related to compliance and risk management. They will work closely with various teams across the organization, such as the Clinical, Engineering, Legal, and Operational Teams, to develop and implement policies and procedures that minimize risk and ensure compliance. The Compliance Associate will also have exceptional organizational skills, and provide project management and analytical support for compliance projects, including coordinating and managing internal reviews and external audits.

In this role, you will

  • Project manage complex, cross-functional audit and risk mitigation plans that are critical to support ongoing risk management efforts
  • Conduct research and analysis to address identified risks and implement data-driven compliance initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance program artifacts such as policies, procedures, guidelines, and training material
  • Support annual and ad hoc audits, including SOC2, HITRUST, and customer-led audits, as well as serve as secondary contact for CMS and other regulatory agency audits
  • Coordinate and manage ongoing compliance requirements including but not limited to state entity licensing filings, medicaid regulatory reporting, HIPAA and data subject rights requests (access, amendment, deletion, restrictions)
  • Maintain compliance calendar and own cross-functional collaboration to ensure key regulatory, client, and other timelines are met

Who you are

  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare, research, regulatory affairs, or compliance project coordination
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements including privacy regulations
  • You are detail oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and research-related skills
  • You enjoy new challenges in a fast-paced environment and are constantly trying to improve existing processes

Bonus points if you have any of the following

  • You have experience with healthcare data privacy and security
  • You hold a compliance certification such as Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), and/or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • Knowledge of laws affecting healthcare providers such as the False Claims Act, Licensing and Credentialing, Anti-kickback/ Stark law, and scopes of practice
  • Telehealth experience

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. Given that this role is open to candidates of different skill levels, determining a salary range is challenging. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $75,000-$90,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
