Infrastructure and Systems Integration Engineer
Sauron
Who We Are
Sauron is the home security company of the future. Homeowners today lack compelling options when it comes to peace of mind against vulnerabilities, and total command and control of their home; there is no definitive, protective brand in the space. Leveraging cutting-edge AI, sensor technology, and nonlethal deterrence, Sauron brings next-generation technology to homeowners to protect their families and property. Incubated by the serial entrepreneur Kevin Hartz and Atomic, Sauron has raised an $18M seed round from leading venture capital firms and angel investors, including 8VC and Flock Safety CEO Garret Langley, to build the new perception system for the home.
The Role | Infrastructure and Systems Integration Engineer
We aim to build a home security system that is well-suited to a wide variety of installation scenarios and operating domains. Our team is looking for a software engineer with expertise in infrastructure for integrating sensors, actuators, compute and user interfaces, who is passionate about developing scalable and maintainable systems.
What You Will Do
Design interfaces and data flow between on-prem, edge and cloud-based applications and services, optimizing for simplicity of install, security, and performance.
Architect seamless integration of backend perception with front-end customer interface and remote monitoring operations.
Help evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to connect software and hardware systems. This may involve configuring compute, writing firmware drivers, designing schemas and architecting data flow and logging.
Monitor and help maintain software systems: track performance metrics, analyze logs, and proactively address integration issues.
Design scalable CD/CI and OTA software update systems.
Address large scale challenges in the machine learning development cycle, especially around data engineering for model retraining.
Partner with engineering teams to build functional and pragmatic security policy, tools and incident response frameworks
Who You Are
8+ years of professional experience developing software for hardware products in a safety-critical field, e.g. aerospace, robotics, medical devices, autonomous vehicles
Experience working with complex distributed software systems that support production loads.
Strong grasp of software lifecycle best practices in a production setting.
Generalist mindset, with the ability to work cross platform, from spooling up cloud compute services to optimizing for embedded systems.
Experience building reproducible data and machine learning pipelines.
Production level experience in AWS, leveraging tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) to maintain infrastructure as code.
A pragmatic approach to security and experience incrementally improving systems.
Nice to have:
Experience working with Pytorch, Tensorflow or other modern deep learning frameworks.
Track record of building and growing high-performance software teams.
