The Role | Mobile Engineering Lead

Sauron Industries is looking to create a new modality for homeowners to interact with their properties and security systems, based on a 3D model of the home in a beautiful app for iPad and iPhone. We are looking for a seasoned software engineer and technical leader to help envision and build out this mobile application. You’ll be a critical part of Sauron’s roadmap as you work on developing performance-critical user experiences which are the primary user touchpoint for our entire system.

We are looking for someone who is creative, detail-oriented, and cares deeply about the user experience. The ideal candidate is strategic about building for the long run, and enjoys the process of collaborating with teammates to architect beautiful, reliable, scalable and maintainable applications. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our mobile application, ensuring a seamless user experience that incorporates engaging 3D visual elements.

• Architecting and writing frontend and backend software for innovative mobile interfaces that delight our users.

• Working closely with designers and AI engineers to continuously improve on the user experience.

• Optimizing performance for mobile devices, ensuring smooth operation and responsiveness.

• Conducting thorough testing to identify and resolve issues before deployment.

Your Background Includes

• 5+ years of extensive, current experience architecting and building reliable, scalable, maintainable high-performance mobile applications.

• A strong portfolio of applications that showcase engaging 3D visual elements.

• Experience with native iOS development.

• Proficiency in mobile programming languages such as Swift, Objective-C, Java, Kotlin, or similar.

• User-centric perspective, and solid understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.

• Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with designers, product owners, and engineers in other domains.

Nice to Have (familiarity with/desire to learn)

• Experience with React Native (or similar modern frontend frameworks) and TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Knowledge of backend services integration (RESTful APIs, JSON, etc.).

• Experience with 3D graphics libraries/frameworks (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, OpenGL, Metal).

• Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks.

• CI/CD systems.

• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
