The Role | Mechanical Engineer

We’re looking for a talented, all-around mechanical engineer who can help across multiple disciplines to define and shape our product.

The Ideal Candidate Is

  • A self-described hacker who can build an MVP of almost anything by yourself, and loves working at the intersection of hardware and software.

  • Unafraid to dig into any engineering area required to bring a prototype online, including networking, firmware debugging, testing, and working with COTS hardware to integrate into a complex system.

  • Passionate about customer-facing products, refining and validating product requirements, and design for manufacturing.

You Will Contribute By

  • Participating in COTS hardware bring-up and integration of hardware and software systems.

  • Iterating on prototypes and proof-of-concept sensor pods and mounts, deterrence mechanisms and other custom hardware to help shape the final product.

  • Designing product hardware for installation in customer’s homes based on initial prototyping.

  • Jumping in to help solve hardware challenges at every stage, from early prototyping and demos, to initial customer deployments, to large-scale manufacture and install.

Your Background Includes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 1-2 years of professional experience, or lead-level participation in undergraduate Formula SAE/Solar Car/Baja or similar

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD, FEA, and common prototyping and design tools such as Solidworks/NX/CATIA and ANSYS or similar FEA software.

  • Hands-on experience with design, assembly and testing of hardware and mechanical systems.

Nice to Haves (familiarity with/desire to learn):

  • Experience with IP camera setup (networking and configuration).

  • Internship or other professional experience in prototyping.
