About the Job

As Director of Newsletter Marketing, you will lead the strategy and execution of SmartAsset's newsletters (3) to drive revenue for the business.

The right candidate has a deep passion for, and expertise in, marketing with experience in managing effective email programs across the subscriber lifecycle. You apply sound reasoning and problem-solve to independently tackle challenges, from improving inboxing to increasing subscriber retention rate to generating more yield. You can formulate strategies to hit growth targets and adjust them based on iterative testing. You understand how to analyze metrics and respond effectively to the most important insights. You can create projections. You know how to structure a valid test, interpret results, and integrate findings into a test roadmap. And as a leader, you're able to guide a cross-functional team to achieve results. You’re not afraid to move quickly and try new things.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the biggest opportunities to drive revenue growth from SmartAsset's newsletters; develop strategies to exploit them, and execute the strategies.
  • Analyze channel / segment / campaign performance and make data-driven changes for improvement, in some cases, by mobilizing teammates.
  • Manage inbox placement to maximize email campaign effectiveness through incorporating processes and best practices to improve deliverability.
  • Improve SmartAsset's subscriber acquisition channels to expand our newsletter audience.
  • Own the test roadmap from opportunity sizing through execution and analysis.
  • Generate, test, and optimize house ads in the newsletters.
  • Create revenue projections. Report on campaign performance pacing on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Manage and improve workflows where possible to improve efficiency.

Skills / Experience You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience designing and managing marketing campaigns including content creation, segmentation, deployment and iterative testing.
  • Deep knowledge of email marketing tactics, tools, and industry developments.
  • Strong written communication skills; able to write marketing copy independently.
  • Strong analytical skills; makes decisions based on data.
  • Experience using an automated marketing platform like MailChimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Iterable, or Blueshift.
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Mixpanel, and/or other web analytics platforms.
  • Success leading impactful cross-functional initiatives.
  • Self-directed and comfortable managing through ambiguity.

Skills / Experience Preferred:

  • Experience marketing B2C and B2B is preferred.
  • Prior experience using Pardot is a plus.
  • Able to identify the priority(s) at any given time, as the startup environment is dynamic.
