The role
As an early engineer at Sphinx, you will have a tremendous influence on the direction of the company. You will work directly with customers and and be responsible for the frontend of our data platform. You should be excited about 0→1 problems and feel comfortable working fast, cutting through ambiguity and keeping focused on customers and impact.
From a technical perspective, be prepared to work on a range of challenging problems:
Re-architecting our frontend codebase as we scale
Building complex, interactive visualizations for hundreds of thousands to millions of data points.
Owning the design system and visual polish of our application
Integrating LLMs into scientist’s workflows
No prior AI/LLM experience required — this is a great opportunity for experienced frontend engineers who would like to get their hands dirty with the latest and greatest models.
We are also looking for first-principles thinkers. Scientific data and workflows has a different set of challenges than other industries, and you will have the opportunity to design novel solutions to difficult problems.
About you
Expert in React + Typescript
A keen sense of design — comfortable in Figma
Thrives on complex UX/UI challenges
Have the most fun when working directly with customers and thinking about product
Like taking ownership and driving the direction of the company as it grows
Enjoy working closely with scientists and learn more about science (no prior scientific experience required)
AI/LLM experience is a plus
This role is onsite in San Francisco.
