What We're Looking For
We're looking for talented and experienced frontend engineers to join the early engineering team at Splitgraph. As a frontend engineer, you'll work closely with the founders and backend engineering team to deliver a cohesive product to our customers. You'll be responsible for the web stack, which includes technologies like TypeScript, React, next.js, Postgraphile, OpenResty, apollo-client, and tools like Docker and GitLab CI.
You'll be an early engineering hire at a company that understands the value of solid software engineering. We have automated tests, deployments, alerting and monitoring in place and are able to go from a code change to it running in production in less than an hour. This all will let you spend your time doing work that actually matters instead of fighting the stack.
Who You Are
You have 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or similar
You're a fast learner with a sponge-like memory and persistent curiosity
You're passionate about craftsmanship and you feel proud when you build robust software
You're confident, self-disciplined, and you've learned how to be a productive remote worker
You can write, speak, and communicate clearly to a range of different audiences
Responsibilities
As we're an early stage company, no two days are the same at Splitgraph and your responsibilities will vary a lot. Here's some of the things you'll get to do:
Building the data catalog: you'll implement React components using the next.js framework
Solving complex UI and communication challenges in a domain where big data is the norm
Work closely with the founders to implement projects with specs, wireframes and mockups
Write tests to ensure quality of your code, and help us improve our frontend testing toolchain
Implement features as requested by our Pilot Program customers
Benefits
Fully remote
Flexible working hours
Generous compensation and equity package
Opportunity to make high-impact contributions to an agile team
Life at Splitgraph
We work remotely and we all have flexible schedules. Ideally you will be available for 4 hours of the day that overlap with the time the founders are awake in the UK. We chat on Mattermost and often have impromptu Zoom video calls.
We try our best to be responsible remote workers. We understand the challenges that come with it, and we build solutions to mitigate them, like using a Mattermost bot for standup messages.
How to Apply
We're thrilled that you'd like to join Splitgraph. To apply, you just need to answer a few geographical questions, upload your resume, and write a message to us. It shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes. If there's a mutual fit, we'll try to get back to you within two weeks.
Our interview process is quick and we can make our decision after 2-3 interviews, a mixture of behavioral and technical. You won't need to invert a binary tree.
