Accounting & Finance, Operations · Full-time
San Francisco, CA, USA
About SV Angel
SV Angel is a San Francisco-based venture fund. We support entrepreneurs in building lasting companies by leveraging our network to help portfolio companies at key inflection points with business development, financing, M&A, and other strategic advice. Over the last 30+ years of investing, our core values of trust, loyalty, and integrity along with our founder-first approach have driven our strategy.
About the role
We are looking for a curious, detail-oriented analyst to work directly with our Partner and COO on running the firm. The role touches every part of a venture firm's operations: finance, fund administration, legal, tax and audit, people operations, investor relations and fundraising.
You will own the accuracy of our internal investment records, keep operational projects moving, and prepare materials for our investors. You will work closely with our CFOs and fund administrators, who maintain the firm's investment accounting and quarterly financial statements.
It is a rare chance to see the full venture lifecycle up close, from closing an investment and tracking ownership to reporting fund performance and returning capital to investors. As you grow, the role can expand into investment analysis, research and projects with the investment team.
What you'll do
Firm operations
-
Help the COO manage day-to-day operations, special projects, deadlines and follow-ups.
-
Manage vendors, insurance renewals, technology access and internal policies.
-
Improve recurring workflows, spreadsheets, databases and document organization, including AI-enabled tools in partnership with our AI Lead.
Investment records
-
Maintain our system of record for every investment: entities, fund allocations, dates and amounts, security types, cap tables, share counts and ownership.
-
Track each company's financing and valuation history, including follow-on rounds, marks, conversions and dilution.
-
Record acquisitions, secondaries, IPOs, distributions, dissolutions and other events affecting our holdings.
-
Gather updates from portfolio companies, counsel and equity platforms, reconcile them against CFO and administrator schedules, and resolve discrepancies, keeping confirmed figures clearly separate from estimates.
Finance and fund administration
-
Provide transaction documents and information to our CFOs and administrators for investment accounting and quarterly reporting.
-
Support capital calls, fund closings, investor onboarding and commitment tracking.
-
Assist with cash activity review, capital accounts, budgeting, cash forecasting, invoices, expense allocations and management fee calculations.
-
Prepare fund performance analyses: invested capital, realized proceeds, remaining value and return metrics.
Legal, tax, audit and compliance
-
Coordinate closing documents, signatures and approvals with the COO and outside counsel.
-
Maintain fund and entity documents, investor agreements, side letters and obligation trackers.
-
Assist external tax and audit firms with annual audits and tax preparation, including schedules, document requests and K-1 delivery.
-
Track entity filings, reporting deadlines and compliance requirements with our advisers.
Liquidity events and distributions
-
Assist COO and finance teams to prepare for IPOs, acquisitions, secondary sales and other liquidity events, coordinating lockups, transfer restrictions and settlement with counsel, brokers, transfer agents and administrators.
-
Coordinate with fund administrators to support cash and stock distributions to limited partners, from calculations and investor notices through delivery and reconciliation.
Fundraising and investor relations
-
Assist with preparation of fundraising presentations, investment summaries and quarterly investor updates.
-
Maintain data rooms, respond to due diligence questionnaires and track the fundraising pipeline and follow-ups.
-
Help prepare annual meeting and advisory committee materials.
-
Use our records to analyze ownership changes, dilution and potential liquidity proceeds, and contribute to research for the investment team.
What we're looking for
-
3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, fund administration, investment operations, consulting, transaction services or a related field. \
-
Strong analytical skills and comfort with financial information and detailed records.
-
Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, and the ability to produce clear presentations and written materials.
-
Excellent organization and follow-through across many projects at once.
-
Clear, confident communication with colleagues and outside advisers.
-
Sound judgment and discretion with confidential information.
-
Ownership of both recurring operational work and analytical projects.
-
Genuine curiosity about venture capital, technology companies and how investment firms run.
Familiarity with cap tables, financial statements, fund performance metrics or investment databases is a plus. We don't expect anyone to arrive as an expert in every area of this role.
Growth and development
You will work directly with the COO and build hands-on experience across fund operations, investment records, transactions and investor relations. As you take on more ownership, the role can grow into more complex operational responsibilities and analytical work alongside the investment team, shaped by your interests and the firm's needs.
