Why you should join us

Tandem is a generational opportunity to rethink how we bring new therapies to market, and our path to doing so is significantly de-risked – we have:

  • Exponential organic growth: We have product-market fit and are growing rapidly through word-of-mouth. Tandem supports thousands of patients every day, is doubling doctor users every quarter, and is working with the largest biopharma companies in the world.

  • An AI-first business model: Our approach is distinctly enabled by AI, but our business will get stronger (not commoditized) as foundation models improve. We are building durability through two-sided network effects that will compound over time.

  • Top tier investors: With the traction to support conviction in our model, we raised significant funding from investors (Thrive Capital and General Catalyst) to build an exceptional team of engineers and operators.

Our number one priority is scaling to market demand. We are looking for individuals who are high horsepower, high throughput, and hyper resourceful to help us increase capacity and grow. We move fast and need to move faster.

All full-time roles are in person in New York. You can learn more about working with us in the last section of this page.

About the role

As Strategic Finance Lead, you will act as the finance architect and strategic business partner to the executive team. You will lead forecasting, scenario planning, build the infrastructure for financial decision-making, and translate business strategy into actionable financial insight. This role is critical in enabling us to scale operations, monitor performance, and ensure sustainable runway as we double headcount and expand into new therapeutic areas

This is a demanding role, with a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You will be expected to "act like an owner" and commit yourself to Tandem's success. If you are low-ego, hungry to learn, and excited about intense, impactful work that drives both company growth and accelerated career progression, we want to hear from you.

If you join, you will:

  • Develop and own the financial planning & analysis (FP&A) function: build the annual operating plan, quarterly re-forecast process, and dynamic dashboards driving performance to goals.

  • Lead scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis: support leadership in evaluating hypotheses around pricing, GTM expansion, new therapeutic verticals, and funding strategy.

  • Partner with go-to-market, product and operations teams to define unit economics, margins, customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV) and other key growth metrics; provide actionable insights to optimize spend.

  • Design and implement a scalable finance operating model: chart of accounts, reporting cadence, cost allocations, and data infrastructure to support 100+ headcount in multi-site offices.

  • Monitor cash flow, runway, capital requirements; present options for funding, capital structure, and investment decisions to the CFO and Board.

  • Drive stakeholder communication: prepare board packs, investor updates, leadership business reviews, and narrative linking financial results to strategic objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional projects—e.g., pricing implementation, M&A diligence, P&L redesign—as the business evolves from startup to scale-up.

  • Mentor junior finance team members and contribute to building the finance culture of accountability, rigor and partnership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in strategic finance, corporate development, growth equity investment, or FP&A within high-growth technology, SaaS, marketplace or health-tech companies.

  • Proven track record of leading financial planning and modeling for companies scaling from early stage to multi-hundred-million dollar revenue.

  • Strong analytical toolkit: Excel, SQL, BI tools (Looker, Tableau, etc.), comfortable building and maintaining enterprise-grade financial models and dashboards.

  • Deep understanding of AI, SaaS and/or marketplace business models (ARR growth, churn, LTV/CAC, gross margins, cohort analysis).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: capable of translating complex financial insights into clear narrative for executive leadership, board and investors.

  • Strong project management and change leadership skills; able to operate autonomously, handle ambiguity, and drive cross-functional initiatives.

  • High-integrity, curious mindset with a hands-on orientation; comfortable with “roll-up‐your‐sleeves” detail while owning strategic outcomes.

This is a list of ideal qualifications for this position. If you don't meet every single one of them, you should still consider applying! We’re excited to work with people from underrepresented backgrounds, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
