What you'll do
As the founding designer, you will:
Design the core product surfaces, including concept sketches, prototypes, UX flows, interaction systems, and a cohesive design language. Collaborate with engineering team to push features rapidly.Set our culture of user research. Become deeply embedded in our users’ worlds by observing scientific workflows end to end, sitting alongside researchers as they think, experiment, iterate, and reason.Collaborate with product growth to ensure every design decision is grounded in real data, including behavioral analytics, session insights, user anecdotes, and repeatable patterns.Define the design culture and product philosophy of the company. Build a cohesive, differentiated visual presence across product surfaces and assets ad hoc (website, BD assets, etc).Who you are
You love science and scientists. Maybe you have scientists in your family, have a technical degree and did research in college, or maybe you just feel a sense of wonder when you look up at the Milky Way on a dark, moonless night.You have experience building interaction systems for sophisticated tools, such as developer tools, data tools, scientific or simulation environments, or you are excited to develop this expertise.You are skilled across the design stack, including research, systems thinking, interaction design, prototyping, and visual polish.You are a user-obsessed. You love designing products people use every day, and believe the only way to understand a user’s needs is to watch their workflows.You are eager to use new AI tools to broaden the scope of what is possible while staying grounded in design first principles. You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty and are excited to contribute across the visual surface of our company.You are highly analytical and comfortable forming hypotheses, rapidly prototyping and gathering feedback on new interfaces, and grounding design decisions in concrete data, not vibes.You collaborate well with a variety of functional roles: engineering, growth, business/ops, etc.Even if all of these do not apply, please reach out if our mission and attitude resonate.
