About the Role

Ethos is seeking an experienced and energetic Compliance Manager to join our growing insurance regulatory practice. This person will work proactively with cross-functional internal teams to identify issues, and then develop and drive practical solutions. You will have a broad understanding of insurance operations and experience in a variety of compliance roles. You will have experience with and be responsible for OFAC, Anti-Fraud, AML/KYC, vendor compliance, internal and third party audit support, support for market conduct exams, providing internal trainings, and assisting with review of advertising materials. Importantly, the candidate must be flexible, willing to work extended hours when necessary, be a team player, be business-minded, confident in determining acceptable risk, and think creatively to always find solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee relevant OFAC and AML/KYC compliance
  • Oversee anti-fraud efforts
  • Vendor compliance
  • Internal and third party audit support
  • Provide internal trainings
  • Research and provision of compliance guidance for Legal team and other internal teams
  • Review advertising, marketing, and other external and internal communications for compliance with industry regulations and business practices
  • Review and analyze content from third parties (e.g., outside distribution channels)
  • Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and procedures
  • Be highly responsive and service-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients
  • Provide entity licensing support
  • Assist with responding to any market conduct exams or data calls

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Juris Doctor or 7+ years of relevant work experience at a major carrier or insurtech company
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently or with cross-functional teams, while adapting quickly to ambiguous and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to provide a high volume of compliance reviews under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess sound and practical business judgment
  • Analytical and research skills, including NILS or similar regulatory service
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to expand knowledge base
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing business needs
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
  • Experience with a broad suite of life insurance products, including term, whole, senior, and IUL.

The US national base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000 - $244,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
